We want to assure you that Hyde Park City, in collaboration with North Logan and the North Park Police Agency, is actively addressing this issue through an Urban Deer Control Plan developed with the Department of Wildlife Resources (DWR). This plan aims to manage the deer population effectively within our city limits, ensuring a balance that benefits our communities while respecting wildlife. The DWR will approve specific harvesting dates each year as part of this initiative.
The DWR, who has jurisdiction over deer in Utah, requires all deer euthanized to be processed so the meat can be used. I share that concern, and would not want to waste such a resource and advocate for proper processing.
